Sell Your Records In Virginia

Turn Your Vinyl Collection Into Value with Trusted Local Buyers
Every record collection tells a story—and in Virginia, those stories often run deep. Maybe you’ve found yourself looking through decades of jazz, gospel, punk, or rock records tucked away in a family attic or private storage. Maybe they belonged to someone you cared about, or maybe you’ve been collecting them yourself for years. Either way, when it’s time to move those records on to someone who will truly value them, it’s not always easy to know where to begin.
If you’re asking yourself, “Where can I sell vinyl records in Virginia?”—you’ve come to the right place.
I’m not a national chain. I’m not a dealer with a flashy website promising top dollar with fine print underneath. I’m a one-person, family-run buyer who’s been working with private sellers for over 20 years—traveling to homes across the East Coast to view and purchase real vinyl collections.
A Small Business with a Purpose
For more than two decades, I’ve worked one-on-one with people who want to sell records, often collections built with care, love, and years of digging. This isn’t a resale hustle. I do not sell to the public, and I don’t run a store. I buy records for private use and for placement in collections that respect the history, rarity, and emotion behind the vinyl.
If you’re looking for the best place to sell vinyl records Virginia collectors can rely on, I bring a calm, honest, and professional approach—without the pressure, tricks, or vague offers that many people encounter online.
Quick Tip!
Paul and his family started the Cash For Records business over 20 years ago. It originally began out of love for old vinyl records. Eventually, the business prospered and people all over Cleveland started cleaning out their attics and basements, in search of thick, black records so they could trade them in for cash.
The Records I’m Looking For
While I consider a wide range of genres, I’m especially interested in medium to large collections (typically 200 records or more), and I specialize in the following styles:
- Jazz: From Blue Note and Prestige to Riverside and Impulse, I’m always searching for classic and rare jazz LPs. Artists like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, and Sonny Rollins are high on my list—along with lesser-known gems.
- Blues: I’m passionate about Southern and electric blues—Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, B.B. King, Lightnin’ Hopkins, and anything that has that raw, soulful depth. Blues 45s are welcome too.
- Gospel: I actively seek Southern gospel albums, particularly local or private pressings—music recorded in churches or small studios. Virginia has a rich gospel history, and I welcome collections that reflect that.
- Soul & Funk: 60s and 70s soul records, especially from regional or lesser-known labels, are highly collectible and always in demand.
- Punk & Rock: For punk and classic rock, I’m looking for:
- Punk: Misfits, Black Flag, The Clash, Sex Pistols
- Rock/Alt: Nirvana, Metallica, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins
- Legends: Lou Reed, Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie

What I Don’t Do
- I do not sell to the public: This is not a retail operation. I don’t flip collections online or at record shows.
- I do not offer free evaluations across the country: I’m not driving from state to state handing out free appraisals. When I visit a collection, it’s because we’ve already discussed the details and it sounds like a good fit.
What I do is offer a respectful, transparent process, fair offers, and prompt payment. If we both agree, I’ll buy and remove the collection myself—no stress, no heavy lifting on your part.
The Process
If you’re ready to sell vinyl records Virginia residents have kept for years, here’s how it works:
- Reach Out Visit my About/Contact Page and tell me a bit about your collection. Just a general sense of the genres, quantity, and condition.
- Share Photos (if possible)
A few snapshots of your shelves, boxes, or some sample album covers help me assess quickly. - Let’s Talk
We’ll have a quick phone call or email exchange to see if it sounds like a match. - In-Person Visit
If everything lines up, I’ll travel to your location in Virginia to evaluate the records in person. - Cash Offer
If we come to an agreement, I pay you in cash and handle all removal and packing. Easy and respectful.
