Blues has been the foundation for many great music genres. But where did it come from? The Blues originated from the Southern States, particularly around the Mississippi Delta which is just upriver from New Orleans. Back in the early 1900's, African American sang as they worked in the fields. The African spirituals, chants, work songs, rural fife, drum music and revivalist hymns were all incorporated into what is now known as the Blues.

Unlike Jazz, the Blues didn't spread out to the Midwest until the late 1930s and 1940s. Once it did, it evolved into electrified Chicago Blues and other styles. There are various hybrids, including Jazz-Blues and Rhythm n' Blues, which was later known as Rock n' Roll.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the best place to sell my Blues vinyl records?

The best place to sell Blues vinyl records are record collectors, antique collectors, auctions and local record stores. If you’re looking to sell your old  Blues vinyl record collection quickly for the most cash, it’s typically better to sell to a record collector or antique collector.
